Men’s Health Week 2020

15
Jun

This week is men’s health week! International Men's Health Week (MHW) always begins on the Monday before Father's Day and ends on Father's Day itself.  This year, it will run from Monday 15th until Sunday 21st June. All of our sites are dedicating time during their weekly toolbox talks to discuss MHW and have set up numerous information points on site safety notice boards and canteens. MHW is a worldwide celebration and aims to:

  1. Heighten awareness of preventable health problems for males of all ages
  2. Support men and boys to engage in healthier lifestyle choices / activities
  3. Encourage the early detection and treatment of health difficulties in males

Each year, the campaign focuses on a different theme. Throughout 2020, the Island of Ireland will focus upon 'Restoring the Balance', where everyone is being asked to 'be part of the solution' as we begin to emerge from the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

MHW gives everyone an opportunity to encourage men and boys to take care of their health, seek support or treatment at an early stage. The Men's Health Forum in Ireland (MHFI) coordinates activity in Ireland and cooperates with other Men's Health Fora across Europe, and further afield, to mark this week.
