Safety Week 2026

Two busy weeks are behind us, and what a fortnight it’s been for STS Group. Across our teams in Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe and the Middle East, we stopped, talked and reflected on how we work. It was a great chance to go back to basics in everything we do to keep ourselves and our teams safe.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do, and small actions make a big difference.

Why this campaign matters to us

At STS Group, safety is more than a requirement. It is a responsibility we share every day.

The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Safety Campaign 2026, Back to Basics, is an important reminder that getting the fundamentals right can prevent serious injuries, protect lives and make sure everyone returns home safely at the end of each working day.

It is particularly relevant to us because we work across complex construction and MEP environments, where planning, communication, coordination and effective risk management are essential. With multiple trades and activities taking place at the same time, we can never become complacent or overlook the basic controls that keep people safe.

Five key topics

Throughout the campaign, we reinforced five key topics:

Critical Risks
Identify the hazards, understand the risks and make sure critical safety controls are in place before work begins.

Health & Wellbeing
Protect both physical and mental health. Recognise fatigue, stress and occupational health risks, and look out for yourself and your colleagues.

Frontline Workers
Listen to the people doing the work. Encourage engagement, empower workers to speak up and act on their feedback.

Leadership
Lead by example. Demonstrate visible safety leadership, promote accountability and make safety part of every decision.

Beyond Compliance
Go beyond simply meeting the minimum requirements. Build a positive safety culture through continuous improvement, learning from incidents and taking personal responsibility.

Keeping the momentum going

The campaign may be over, but the message isn’t. Getting the basics right is something we need to do on every site, every day. Thank you to everyone across STS Group who took part, shared their thoughts and helped keep safety front and centre.
