HSE Lead, Germany

Description 

The STS Group are currently recruiting for a HSE Lead for a new project in Germany (Frankfurt Region).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adherence to the project & STS Safety Management system
  • Adherence to relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions & legislation
  • Drafting & adherence to the Health, Safety, Environmental & COVID-19 Plans
  • Coordination in the development of task specific Method statements, risk assessments, safe plan of action, permit to work etc
  • Compiling project HSE KPIs & indicators and reporting on a monthly basis
  • Good Safety Practices are managed & maintained including SOR programme
  • Ongoing chemical assessments, control of hazardous substances
  • Safety interventions are completed & registered
  • Carry out regular site audits and inspection, document results and follow up on any corrective actions
  • Records of statutory inspections are available for project activities, tool and plant
  • Adopt a Proactive approach to project EHS requirements
  • Ability to work either independently or as part of a team
  • Provide Safety input to site management & at site EHS forums
  • Ensure project sub-contractor adhere to project EHS plans & procedures
  • Vetting of all documentation for Subcontractors & labour supply
  • STS site induction & training is coordinated, managed & maintained
  • Project PPE is resourced & available
  • Compile & carry out Toolbox talks
  • Method Statement briefings
  • Carry out accident, incident & near-miss investigation reports in a timely manner & ensure communication to project management.  Methodical approach to accident and incident investigation and reporting
  • Welfare & Hygiene facilities are in place, managed & maintained
  • Liaison with site Project Management on environmental, health & safety issues
  • Waste reduction and recycling programmes are maintained in line with project policies & procedures
  • Chair STS project HSE meetings
  • Ensure legal registers are kept up to date
  • Ensure that all project HSE documents and records are maintained on the sharepoint system

required skills / qualifications

  • Relevant third level qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety (Degree or Diploma)
  • 5+ year's experience of managing environmental, health and safety on construction sites
  • Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation
  • Flexibility and good team working skills
  • Ability to efficiently manage all environmental, health and safety issues on site
  • Strong communication & computer skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Applicants must be based in Europe to be considered
  • Instructor training courses in working at heights, manual handling or abrasive wheels (Desirable)
  • Previous experience of working on mainland Europe (Desirable)
  • Previous data centre experience would be an advantage (Desirable)
  • Experience working with electrical contractors or electrical experience (Desirable)
